“Do Not Exchange The Truth Of God For A Lie!” (Rom.1:18-25).
God was in Africa before the missionaries came to help the Africans to name the name of Jesus Christ. Scriptures attest to this, that, “…what may be known about God is plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…” This is to say even those who have never known the Bible nor heard about Christ have no excuse for not honouring God, because all of creation reveals him.
The psalmist was inspired to see this, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world…”(Ps.19:1-4a).
If the firmament can declare the glory of God, then there is no excuse for anyone to claim ignorance about God. That is why “the wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness…”
Idolaters exchange the truth of God for a lie when they worship and serve created things rather than the creator.
In his anger God has given the ungodly “over in the sinful desires of their own hearts to sexual” perversions. These sexual perversions are becoming more pronounced in this generation than they were in the Roman world. “Today there are clamant voices in favor of LGBTQ. LGBTQ are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer for those who are questioning their sexual or gender identity. LGBTQ may generally refer to anyone who is non-heterosexual or non-cisgender. This perversion does not limit itself to the above but includes heterosexuals who are bisexual. What about the rampant promiscuity practiced by, and the huge pornographic content being consumed even by those who call the name of Christ!
It is to such as us that it is said, “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice it”(1:32).
Dear friend, let us work hard on our characters so as to escape God’s wrath by:
- Glorifying God and giving thanks to him.
- Not exchanging God’s truth for a lie.
- Not continuing in doing what God abhors.
- And not approving those who practice what God abhors.
God in Christ Jesus has overlooked our past sins so that we should now become his new creation.
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me not to exchange God’s truth for a lie but to glorify him as God and give thanks to him through Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
