“Are You Among The Chosen Few?”
Those who are members of any exclusive club often take things for granted. Such was the attitude of Israel. They took for granted that they had the exclusive rights of being children of God. The presence of Jesus whom God made the Christ was to let the israelites understand that the time for exclusion was over.
Through Jesus God teaches that he is an all-inclusive God.
Believers of today are the new Israel. We run the risk of taking things for granted. When we pray daily for forgiveness, some people consider it as wrong doctrine, arguing that Jesus has already carried away all our sins.
The same argument caused Paul to ask the question whether we should continue to sin because grace abounds? By no means!
God is able to transform even stones to praise him. In the same way, when we undermine his invitation he stretches out his hands to those on the streets and bring in all the people that can be found there to come enjoy a feast that was not originally intended for them.
Even so, those who come in must fulfil all conditions of righteousness, or they risk being thrown “outside into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
God invites all to be part of his kingdom, but only a “few” are chosen by him (Mt.22:1-14). The conditions for being chosen includes acceptance of the invitation, followed by appropriate conduct. Proper behaviour is required as evidence of being chosen.
Stop boasting that you are saved because you are a Christian! You may just be one such person who is inside the banquet hall, but without the wedding clothes! Work out your salvation by obeying and keeping the commandments of God. “For many are invited, but few are chosen” We are among those who have been invited. We have honoured the invitation.
The question is, “Are you putting on the wedding clothes?” If not, you risk being thrown out and that would mean wasted years. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling!
Prayer: Lord have mercy upon me and incline my heart to keep your laws. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
