“I Know That My Redeemer Lives…!”
“I know that my Redeemer lives…” is a strong confession of faith made by Job. This confession has been appropriated by Christians over the generations. Preachers have used it as a text for funeral sermons. It is a popular text to Christians through Handell’s “Messiah.”
Job was in distress. Although he was once the wealthiest person, he had lost everything; even his wife abandoned him. He was inflicted with various kinds of diseases. His friends came to comfort him, but their comfort was like adding more pain to injury. They mocked and accused rather than comfort him.
In the midst of their mockery and false accusations Job remained confident that “ultimately God will vindicate his faithful servants in the face of all false accusations.” He was eventually vindicated. (cf Job 42:7-10).
Dear friend, life is full of challenges. The storms of life are often as rough as the wild seas. And when the waves toss your little boat this way and that, you must remain steadfast and confident in the one who has called you upward. God is the advocate and the defender of those with unwavering faith.
Also know that death is the ultimate end of this earthly life, but even so, keep the faith! Be absolutely certain that death is not the end of existence; one day you will stand in the presence of your Redeemer and see him with your own eyes. (Job 19:25-27).
In any circumstance or condition, keep your heart pure because “blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”(Mt.5:8).
Prayer of the week: Lord Jesus Christ thank you that through your resurrection I will see God with my own eyes. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working day and week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
