“The Lord Is With You And Will Watch Over You…!”
A Mungaka journey blessing states, “Go with God. When you stub your toe against a stone let the stone shatter into pieces.” Such was the experience of Jacob. He cheated his brother and through deception received his father’s blessings twice. However, everything was God-ordained. Earlier on Esau had sold his birthright to Jacob for a dish of porridge. While they were still in the womb the Lord had said that Esau the older of the twin will serve the younger.
Having cheated his brother, he had to run away. As he was running away from his brother, night overtook him on the way and he laid down to sleep. God appeared to him in a dream and said inter-alia: “I am the Lord…I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised.” You may say it was a mere dream, but it was a dream that became a reality.
If you are on the Lord’s side know that he is on your side always. When God is watching your back then what he tells you in a dream must surely come to pass!
God may have spoken these words to Jacob in a dream, but Jesus Christ has spoken the same words to you while you are awake. According to Matthew, Jesus’ last words to the eleven disciples were, “…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Mtt.28:20b).
If God is for you, no one can be against you. Hold on to the dream he has revealed to you and be assured that he is with you till it comes to pass!
When Jacob awoke from sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” Oh yes; everywhere is holy ground, but most times we are not aware of it. Be careful what you do anywhere on the land because the Lord is in that place.
Jacob put up a temple of remembrance and named the place “Bethel” – place of God (Gen.28:10-19a). Like Jacob never forget the place where the Lord spoke to you. Rise up from your dream and go forth with confidence. The Lord will surely do what he has said he will do.
Prayer of the week: Father Almighty, I thank you for the assurance that you will not leave me until you have done what you have promised. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working week. Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
