“Treat Others With The Fear Of The Lord!”
There is absolutely no peace for the wicked. King Ahab had just gone to take possession of Naboth’s vineyard and while there God sent prophet Elijah to go and accost him. Through the prophet God told Ahab, “…Have you not murdered a man and siezed his property?… In the place where dogs licked up Naboth’s blood, dogs will lick your own blood…Dogs will devour Jezebel by the walls of Jezreel…”
It is a forseen doomsday when a comparison is made between you and your predecessors and you are classified as the worst ever! Of Ahab it is written, “There was never a man like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of the Lord, urged on by Jezebel his wife. He behaved in the vilest manner by going after idols…”
You see why it is not good to be under “domestic petit coat government!” Jezebel was the daughter of the king of Tyre and Sidon. She did everything in her authority to promote the worship of Baal and Asherah, deviating the Israelites (Northen kingdom) from the worship of Yahweh. Ahab was a weakling who subjected himself to the dictates of Jezebel his wife. When Ahab heard the condemning words of Elijah he became repentant. He tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and fasted, going around meekly. By his repentance God postponed the disaster to “bring it on his house in the days of his son” (I Kgs 21:17-29). His repentance only gave him added time, but the punishment happened just as had been predicted. He was killed and his blood was licked by dogs (22:37-38).
Some lessons learned:
Evil never goes unpunished. Be careful not to sow seeds of evil because your children will harvest what you planted. Positions of authority does not elevate you to the rank of the gods.
Fear God and do what is right in his eyes. God hears the cries of the oppressed and marginalised and he avenges them. Always treat others with the fear of the Lord!
Prayer: Holy Spirit guide me so that I should never take advantage of those under my authority. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
