“Listen To God’s Word And Repent!”
Yesterday as I listened to a sermon over CRTV National radio by Rev Dr Nditemeh, I said to myself, “My brother tell them O! Tell us O!” He spoke of how both in the secular society and within the Church people are basking in occultic practices, doing despicable things because they want wealth, power or fame.
The nations of today are as idolatrous and rebellious as Israel was in the days of Ezekiel. God’s call and commission to speak truth to the nation is the same. “…I am sending you to…a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me.” They “are obstinate and stubborn.”
The prophet’s mission is to tell the people what the Sovereign Lord says, “and whether they listen or fail to listen – they will know that a prophet has been among them.
The prophetic call is not a call to comfort, ambiance, wealth and opulence. There will be briers and thorns around and one would be living among scorpions – and these referring to the nation – but there is an assurance from the Lord: “Do not be afraid of what they say or terrified by them… You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen…” (Ez.2:3-8a).
My friend, even you too, God has called you to be his mouthpiece to a rebellious peoole. Speak his word first to yourself and to others. To the rest of us “today if you hear God’s voice harden not your hearts!” Let us listen to God’s word and repent from both individual sins and structural sins!
Prayer of the week: Dear Lord give me the courage to speak your word just as you have given me. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working week. Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
