“Your Patmos Is In God’s Plan!”
My people have a riddle that “if you have never spent time in a sick ward you may never understand the language about sickness.” If you’ve never experienced it, you may never be able to talk about it.
John the revelator was on the island of Patmos but it was not a leisure trip. He was banished to that island because of the word of God and because he bore testimony about Jesus. Whatever reason his banishers gave, Patmos provided an opportunity of solace and time enough for deeper reflection for the benefit of the entire suffering and persecuted brethren and companions all over.
His banishment turned out for the good of all God’s suffering people everywhere. The message of hope to a suffering and persecuted God’s people was passed through him in perilous times in his life.
His banishment did not reduce his trust in the Lord or kill his spirit. He still kept the Lord’s Day and that is why he had a divine visitation on the Lord’s Day. His message was not an ivy tower, well reasoned and crafted propaganda of double intentions or deceptions. He was in the Spirit when the Lord spoke to him and commissioned him to write the message of hope about “what will take place later…”(Rev.1:9-18).
My friend, God can use you too even now to bring words of hope for the future to our suffering brethren and companions. You have been to that sick ward so you know the language of sick people!
Moreover Revelation is considered a difficult and frightful book but it need not be! All it takes is to be in the Spirit (especially on the Lord’s Day) to understand the message that was given to one who was in the Spirit before receiving it! Bear in mind that wherever your Patmos may be God has a divine plan to execute through you!
