“The Testimony Of God Is The Truth!”
The song on my mind this morning: “You lack, you lack something, you lack, you lack something good…If you don’t know Jesus you lack something…” Yes, if you don’t know Jesus and if you don’t have Jesus, then you lack the most important thing in life!
I agree with Karl Marx that “religion is an opium of the poor,” but that is when like in Africa today people spend more time in church and prayer and less time in gainful activity. However, I disagree with those who say to believe in the gospel is being brainwashed.
We are so fond of asking for proof to show that something exist, meanwhile we cannot show proof that that something does not exist. We rely on human testimony to ascertain truth and validity, yet we are often sceptical of the testimony of God who is himself the source of all truths.
God has given a testimony to us about his Son. If we doubt him, then we make God a liar. But “anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart.”
“And this is the testimony: ‘God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” Those of us who were born in the village, when we were still toddlers, elderly ones you to tease us by giving us a lump of “fufucorn” in which meat was hidden. Normally, we refused to take the empty fufucorn. And when we refused to take, they’ll then open the fufu and show us the meat within. Life on earth and eternal life are like meat hidden in Jesus Christ. If you believe in God’s testimony about Christ, then you have it all.
Take note that this message is not for atheists and unbelievers; it is “to you who believe in the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life”(I Jn. 5:9-13).
If you have the Son of God you have life(v.12), and if you believe in the Son of God you should know that you have eternal life!
Paul makes this clearer when he says our lives are hidden in Christ. If you know that you have life because you have the Son, you won’t be afraid of human beings that they can harm your physical body. If that is so, then do the work of Christ in all risky situations confident that even if you are no longer in this world, you will have eternal life because you believe and do the works of him who is in you!
Fear not, because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the the world!
