“Take Jesus At His Word!”
Jesus went back to Cana in Galilee where he had turned water into wine. Then comes “a certain royal officer whose son lay sick at Capernaum.” He begged Jesus “to come and heal his Son, who was close to death.” Jesus told him, “Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, you will never believe.”
Was this man really hungry for miracle? Not at all! His son was sick and he knew he had found a doctor who could heal his son. He insisted, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” Offhandedly Jesus told him, “You may go. Your son will live.”
“The man took Jesus at his word and departed.” Back home he saw that his Son was better and that his healing took place at about the same time when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” Seeing this, the man “and all his household believed”(Jn. 4:43-54).
My friend, take Jesus at his word and positive changes begin to manifest in your life. Let me share with you a few scriptures which have been panacea to many.
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still”(Ex. 14:14).
“The Lord is my shepherd…”(Ps. 23).
“Be strong and courageous…”(Jos.1:6f)
“Unless the Lord builds the house…”(Ps. 127:1ff).
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”(Jn.15:5).
And, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”(I Cor. 12:9); just to name a few!
Knowing however that I’m a wretched sinner who was found out by grace I keep praying, “…Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a clean and pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from you presence or take your Holy Spirit from me…”(Ps. 51).
In my cries and laments I listen to the Lord on what he tells me and “I take Jesus at his word!” Therefore I wait with open ears and say, “Speak Lord, your servant is listening!”
Yes my friend, always listen to the silent voice of Jesus and take him at his word! Prayer: Holy Spirit enable me to take Jesus at his word. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
