“Prepare Yourself For Times Of Refreshing From The Lord!”
Peter and John were going to the temple. At the temple gate was a man born crippled who was brought and placed there daily so he could beg for alms. When he begged from Peter and John. Peter told the man, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
When they saw the cripple walking, the people who knew him “were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened…”
This was a golden opportunity for Peter to bring the word of God concerning Jesus Christ to them. He told the people that what had happened was not by their own power or godliness.
The person who performed this miracle through them was Jesus the betrayed, crucified, dead and risen Christ.
The people like their leaders may have acted in ignorance, but this was their opportunity: “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you…”(Acts 3:1-22).
Some lessons:
1. Never take the glory for what the Lord achieves through you.
2. The things we do for God which are marvellous in people’s eyes are not an end in themselves; they are means to cause people to repentance!
3. Lastly, we have just celebrated Easter, rejoicing that the Lord is risen. We are however reminded of the need of repentance if times of refreshing must come to us from the Lord.
Question to ponder: “Are you prepared for the time of refreshing from the Lord through the second coming of Jesus Christ?”
Prayer: Holy Spirit steer me away from the way of destruction and strengthen my resolve to focus on the path of righteousness. Amen.
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
