“Prepare Yourself For The Lord’s Harvest Time!”
If there is a season to plant, there is a season to harvest. And as the saying goes, “you reap what you sow!” The psalmist reminds us that “the earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it”(24:1).
We are God’s crops in his field, which is the world. Jesus expresses this in John’s gospel as he tells the disciples, “…open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest…”(4:35f). Jesus was here talking about the winning of lost souls into the kingdom of God.
Revelation talks of a final harvest where the Lord himself will reap the ripe harvest of the earth. This harvest is understood to be those who are in Christ. Then comes another harvest where the grapes are gathered and thrown into the winepress of God’s wrath. When the wine is trampled what comes out is blood(cf. Is.63:3).
Dear friend, like we said in the opening, if there is a season to plant, there is a season to harvest. Inbetween planting and harvesting the kind of fruit you produce will determine whether you are gathered into the barn of the Lord or you will be trampled in the winepress of God’s wrath! The choices of our actions today determines the consequences of where or what happens to us during God’s final harvest. Therefore, bear good fruit before harvest time because any tree that does not bear good fruit is cut and thrown into the fire!
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ keep me in your grace so that I would not be gathered into the great winepress of your wrath. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
