“Let Us Cry Out…Look, Lord And Consider…!”
We were once admired as a citadel of peace. We once prided ourselves as “Africa in miniature.” Alas; like Jerusalem after its destruction, “all who pass our way clap their hands at us, they scoff and shake their heads and say, “Is this the city that was called the perfection of beauty…?”
We ourselves ask in bewilderment, “How did we get to this point?” The acusing finger is on those who are made watchmen of the nation. My folks say the fly that had no-one to advise it followed the corpse into the grave. As has been established, underlying any kind of crises, is a spiritual crisis! So it is that “the visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity. The prophecies they gave you were false and misleading…”
We spent our time asking for seed sowing, emphasing that the size of one’s harvest depended on the nature of the seeds that were sown. But we did not care what they did to scquire the seeds!
However, now that we know; now that calamity has already stricken us, there is no need crying over a bottle of oil that has fallen and broken on gravel! Rather, let us “arise and cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord….Look, Lord and consider…”(Lam.2:13-22).
Yes, look, Lord and consider because you are a compassionate God. For your name’s sake, have mercy upon us sinners!
Prayer: Heavenly Father revive our broken spirits and let your anger cease from us. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
