“Keep Praying And Thanking God Despite The Odds!”
Daniel seems to be a man out of this world. He is an exile in the service of a foreign king. He “so distinguished himself among the administrators…by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.” At this the others “tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent.”
They realised that they couldn’t find any basis for charges against Daniel unless it had “something to do with the law of his God.” They forced the king to issue a decree that for the next thirty days whoever prayed to any other God other than to the king shall be thrown into a lions den.
The decree was passed, but Daniel was unperturbed! He went home and “three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before”(Dan. 5:1-10).
What we gather is that in the execution of your duties as a government administrator, be trustworthy, and do not be corrupt nor negligent. Let not your adversaries have reason to charge you of corruption in your conduct of government affairs!
If you must be charged, let it be about “the law of your God! But above all, do not for any reason whatsoever abandon your regular prayers of thanksgiving to the Lord Your God!
The Lord is there to fight the battle for those who remain steadfast in him! He is an ever present help when they need him! The enemies may lay their snares all around you, but God is your advocate!
Prayer: Holy Spirit, in the face of envy and persecution renew my zeal for prayer and the things of God. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
