“God’s Grace Has Come To You!”
I have just come to understand a deeper meaning when Paul states in his letter to the Corinthians that one man sows and another man waters but it is God who gives the growth.
This goes deeper beyond one man gathering and another one nurturing! It goes to the very depth of writing the words of prophecy and its interpretation. It is about the way salvation is shrouded in mystery and becomes evident only through cross-generational deciphering!
Talking about the great wo/men of faith of yore, the writer of Hebrews says, “these were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect”(11:39-40).
In the same way, on the issue of salvation Peter writes, “…The prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing…It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things”(I Pt. 1:10-12).
Some key points to note:
1. It is important to always search the scriptures “intently and with great care” in a bid “to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in you is pointing…”
2. A revelation that must not be ignored is that salvation as we mentioned earlier is cross-generational. That is why after diligently searching the scriptures “it was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you when they spoke of things that have now been told you…”
Dear friends, we are privileged to reap what we did not sow. Generations past laboured to acquire the things we now enjoy! We are often proud of the lands of our births, not caring to know that our forebears acquired those lands through their “sweat and blood!”
Today we enjoy the privilege of salvation because we have access to scriptures that were written by people who benefited nothing out of it! We enjoy Christ whom they talked about but could not determine when he was to be revealed! We enjoy what even angels long to look into! Jesus Christ has given us victory over Satan!
He has come as light to dispel the darkness of this world! Move away from darkness and walk in the light!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
