“Do Not Take A Fellow Believer To Court!”
It is sad for christians to take other christians to court. It is a sad day when christians are locked up in police custody as dictated by other christians. It is a sad thing for the church when people are languishing in jails because they have been condemned to be there by other Christians.
Paul wonders why as christians we take our disputes to be decided upon by the ungodly instead of to the saints. The very fact of having lawsuits “means you have been completely defeated already.” He goes further to raise some conscience probing questions: “Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?” “Instead, you yourselves chaet and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers…”
None of us within the fellowship of believers is standing on a moral high ground such that we should take delight in the weaknesses of others. It is not like there is no longer any room for correction, rebuke and chastisement. What is needful is we should not condemn others for the same offenses for which we are as guilty as they are – if not even more!
We do not have any guarantee of inheriting the kingdom of God if we give in to our carnal natures(I Cor.6:1-11).
Rather than condemn others, each person should look inward for an inner conversion which will keep the Holy Spirit as a guidance counsellor. This would enable each one of us to realise that it is the same colour of blood flowing in every vein.
My friend, when in dispute with a fellow Christian, the deciding question which to ask is, “How will Jesus react to this situation?”
The answer to that question would not make you become like Jesus, but it would most assuredly help us have a merciful heart towards others. We remind ourselves that God is in the “Other!”
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ teach me to put myself in the place of others before any action towards them. Above all, let me be my own mirror to see and correct my own weaknesses first.
Welcome back to work. Have a blessed day and week. Peace be with you!
