“Be The Master’s Voice To Declare The Year Of The Lord’s Favour!”
“Anointed To Preach The Good News…!”
Those who have been called to dispense the Good News are constrained not to contradict the message of hope to the hopeless.
They are called to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s Favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve… to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair…”
This is the text which Jesus used for his first public preaching. He came as a great liberator, a political preacher and an advocate of the social gospel! He came to eradicate injustices of all kinds, to eradicate discrimination of all sorts, and to provide hope to the hopeless!
If we are here to speak for Christ on behalf of the downtrodden, the marginalised and the disenfranchised whom Christ represents, then we must speak out against injustice, discrimination, false accusations and oppression!
We must stand for the people whose rights are being trampled upon. We cannot afford to be the reason for which people shed innocent tears! We should provide comfort to those who are in need of comfort!
We should be a solution to the suffering masses and not to be part of their problem by becoming bedfellows with the oppressors and tyrants!
My friend, if you are for Jesus make life better for those people who are close to Jesus’ heart – the poor, the marginalised and the oppressed!
The sovereign Lord wants to make righteousness and praise to spring up before all nations (Is. 61:1-3&10-11) and it is you he wants to use. Put a smile on the faces of those who due to calamity and misery have forgotten what it takes to smile! Ensure also that you are not the reason why somebody loses a smile! Be anointed to Preach the Good News! In the words of Francis of Assisi, “We have been called to heal wounds, to unite what has fallen apart, and to bring home those who have lost their way.”
Meanwhile to those who stand on the wrong side of Jesus, the year of the Lord’s Favour is announced side by side “the day of vengeance of our God…” Where would you want to belong?
My friend, a new year is just a change of year and changes nothing unless you become the change you want!
It is good to be on the Lord’s side by standing for those who are despised, ignored and rejected by men!
