“Be The Difference And ‘Serve In The New Way Of The Spirit!'”
Every Bible school, seminary and department of theology allocates considerable space for “Christian ethics.” The “common man’s” unscientific definition of ethics would be that it deals with “what ought to be in distinction of what is.” To qualify it “christian” is to say the word of God is the main primary source material. (In philosophical ethics, the is – ought problem is also known as “Hume’s Law”).
Wo/men of God are revered by the laity because they are considered to have learned and known these things and many others and so they serve as the teachers and guide of the laity.
It may be a misjudgment by those who criticize these servants of the Most High, but the servants themselves know they are human. Scriptures warns us, “make sure the light in you is not darkness.” Paul cries out, woe is me if I call others and I myself am rejected!
Jesus says if a blind leads another blind, they run the risk of falling into a ditch. If we are in Christ we have become new creations, old things haven passed away, replaced with the new. This takes place in concrete terms when “You also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that you might bear fruit to God…now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that We Serve In The New Way Of The Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code”(Rom.7:4-6).
This is to say in the new dispensation we must of necessity move away from the corrupt human nature of “what is” to the spiritual life of “what ought!” As Christians we must be the difference and “serve in the new way of the Spirit!
Prayer: Father lead me to make the difference and serve in the new way of the Spirit. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
