There are some things which in my naiveity I seem not to understand. Maybe it’s because I’m of the “old skul!” Sometimes you see images of people trapped in an accident. To your shock and dismay, those around are struggling to capture the accident on phone camera instead of struggling to save the victims. You see one person being battered by another, and instead of helping the victim, bystanders are busy cheering and capturing the images on camera.
One humanbeing is brutally killing another humanbeing and another humanbeing is standing by cheering and filming. When posted on social media other human beings watch and make comments that rejoices in such dastardly acts!
Where are we heading to?
The lessons of our upbringing included kindness, lending a helping hand when you can, generosity, humility, fairness, care and concern for others, hospitality etc.
Even at parties a fool or a madman may be asked to sit at a distance, but s/he was well fed. A stranger who popped in at meal time was considered to be God in disguise. Where has the good old days gone to? What has suddenly changed?
Maybe you are someone who like the rich youngman can confidently say, “I have kept all the commands of the Lord.” But when Jesus adds, “go and sell everything you have and give to the poor,” you go away crestfallen!
In the majority we are busy keeping the commandments, boasting in our relationships with Christ! Unfortunately we drive past him everyday without even waving at him; not even when he waves at us. Just because he is sitting at that street corner as a beggar!
We do not only ignore to visit him in prison, we are the ones who put him in prison just because we see him as that criminal whom we cannot forgive seventy times seven times!
While the menu of our pets are of high standards, we ignore Christ by our gate. We cannot afford him at our doorsteps because he is in rags!
And on that day when he ignores you because you despised him, you’ll be like asking in surprise, “Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?” His response is a simple truth that “whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” Such will be sent “to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”(Mtt.25:31-46).
My friend, you can’t expect to make heaven because of your regularity and commitment in church, while you ignore Christ the church owner everyday! It doesn’t work that way! Christ is in the Other! Don’t wait to celebrate him on Christmas while you are busy ignoring him everyday!
Have a blessed day as you learn to interact with Christ everyday of your life! Peace be with you!
“No Other God But Yahweh!”
“No Other God But Yahweh!”(Gen.1:1-5,26-27&31).“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the
