According to the specifications given in Exodus there was a veil of the temple which divided the Most Holy Place from the Holy Place(26:31-33). Only the high priest was allowed to enter the Most Holy Place(Lev. 16:2).
Matthew recounts that the moment Jesus died, “at that moment the curtain was torn in two from top to bottom…”(27:51ff). The torn curtain gave access to Jesus into the Most Holy Place that was entered only by the high priest “Only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance…” (Heb. 9:7ff).
Jesus entered the Most Holy Place both as high priest and as a sacrifial animal whose blood cleansed us from sins once and for all.
The torn veil allows for the “priesthood of all believers.” We now “have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place. By the blood of Jesus, a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is his body…”
If that is so, “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith…” We do not live like islands. Christ entered the Most Holy Place for the sake of other people too. Therefore, “let us consider how we may spur one another towards love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together…let us encourage one another…”(Heb. 6:19-26).
You may be loving and accustomed to doing good, but there are times when this love may grow cold and you loss interest in doing good. That is why meeting together” is important since it gives us enough opportunity “to encourage one another!”
When we meet together we are able to encourage one another so that our weaknesses are transformed into strengths!
Life in heaven will be a life of merriment, praise and adoration! Let God’s will in heaven be reflected here on earth through those who are now purified by the blood of Christ to enter the Most Holy Place!
Yes my friend, “draw near to God with a sincere heart!”
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
