“Fear Not, God Has Appointed Your Saviour!”
Jonah knew he was the cause of the storm so he asked that they should throw him in the sea. The men did just that and immediately the sea became calm. The men recognised the awesomeness of the God of Jonah and they offered a sacrifice to him with vows. God had used Jonah’s escape in converting the men in the ship.
As for Jonah, “the Lord appointed a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights”(Jon.1:11-17).
Jonah is a prototype of Jesus Christ. Jonah was ready to die so that the rest of the people in the ship could live. In the same way Jesus willingly gave his life as ransom so that we may be rescued from sin and death!
When Jonah thought all was lost, God “appointed” a great fish to swallow and keep him for three days. In the same way Jesus was in the grave for three days before God raised him from the dead to make him the Christ.
Therefore dear friend:
When you know you are the cause of the pain of others, it is good to own up. Be ready to pay the price so that others may be spared the calamity you have caused. No matter how gloomy and hopeless it may be, keep on keeping on because the Lord will rescue you!
Prayer: I thank you Lord that you have overlooked my transgressions and have appointed Jesus Christ to be my Saviour. Holy Spirit strengthen me to abide in him. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
