“Understanding God’s Grace In All Its Truth!”
In the early beginnings of the church the apostles were brought before the Sanhedrin. Gamaliel, a Pharisee, an honoured and respected teacher of the law advised for their release saying: “…I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God”(Acts 5:17-40).
When the apostles were released they did not close their mouths, even when they were ordered not to speak in the name of Jesus. “Day by day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ”(5:42). Even when “a great persecution broke out in the Jerusalem,” and the people “were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria,” this only became a means by which the gospel spread.
From then till now Gamaliel’s words reminds us that this gospel is of God and nobody can stop it. As Paul says, “…All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard and understood God’s grace in all its truth…”(Col.1:3-8).
Any tree specie multiplies when those who eat the fruit nurse its seeds, transplants, tend and nuture it until it bears more fruit. In the same way the gospel keeps bearing fruit and keeps growing in us and with us when we understand God’s grace in all its truth. We understand God’s grace in all its truth when we have faith in Christ Jesus, love for all the saints and the conviction that hope is the source of this faith and love!
May we in our daily walk of faith seek to understand God’s grace in all its truth so that the good news should continue to bear fruit and grow in us, among us and with us. Let our daily living give glory to the Father!
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me daily to understand God’s grace in all its truth so that the gospel continues to bear fruit and grow in me and around me. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
