“Turn From Your Evil Ways!”
Just because the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few is not an excuse for charlatans to claim that they are the mouthpiece of the Lord. Those who have been in the council of the Lord cannot preach peace when there is no peace. Our emphasis on messages of peace in the midst of devastating war is sheer hypocrisy. This is not to say we should preach war either. Preachers have a responsibility to speak truth to power; calling people to repentance by addressing the cause of war.
Everyday we hear administrators saying that things are under control, yet they move around- even in towns – with very tight security; most times in armoured vehicles. The reality on the field is that the death toll keeps rising, whether it is the military, the seperatists or innocent civilians. Kidnapping is on the rise, social life is collapsing and insecurity everyehere. The economy continues its nosedive while those who pull the strings keep telling us that everything is under control; just because they and their families are feeding fat on the spoils of war. They surely do not want it to stop! How can we under such circumstances say that there is peace! That would be filling the people with false hopes!
The Lord says, we should stop listening to what the prophets are prophesying. They fill you with false hopes, they speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord.” They promise peace to those who despise the Lord and they tell those who follow the stubbornness of their hearts, “No harm shall come to you…”
Prophets should stop preaching “all is well messages in the midst of chaos. It makes people feel comfortable in their evil ways!” Rather, preachers have a duty to proclaim the Lord’s words to his people “and turn them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds.”
There is no peace for the wicked. Let us abandon our evil ways and turn to God because no-one can hide in any secret place that the Lord cannot see him/her. Let the lying prophets discontinue prophesying “the delusions of their hearts.” Let those who have the word of the Lord speak it faithfully*(Jer.23:16-29).
My friend, the bottomline is *repent and return to the Lord; stop listening to the lying messages of peace from prophets who have not been in the council of the Lord. God loves you because he has redeemed you in Christ Jesus.*
Prayer: Father thank you for saving me through grace. Holy Spirit guide me so that I turn away from evil ways. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
