“Trust The Lord Who Heals!”(Ex.15:22-27).
From the Red Sea the Israelites were in the desert of Shur for three days without finding water. At Marah they saw water but could not drink because it was bitter. And as usual they grumbled against Moses – which is to say they grumbled against God!
Moses cried out to the Lord and the Lord showed Moses what to do to make the water sweet.
They finally came to Elim, where “there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.”
Even in our day we grumble over our present circumstances, reminiscing about the fleshpots of Egypt. Like the children of Israel we often think our present situation is worst than the days of old. We have nostalgia for the so-called good old days. Instead of giving thanks to God for leading us to a brighter future, we tend to grumble.
My friend, no matter your present predicaments, God knows the plans he has for you and I. Plans for our welfare and not for destruction.
We may be thirsty now and the water available may be bitter, still, let us be thankful to God. Our Elim is ahead where there are twelve springs of refreshing water and many palm trees to shelter us. Even so, Elim is temporary. God’s big plan for us is the promised land overflowing with milk and honey awaiting us.
Besides, the bitter water of Marah which the Lord miraculously sweetened is to say God can turn all your bitterness into sweetness. All that the Lord requires is, “If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on” your enslavers and tormentors. “For I am the Lord, who heals you.”
Prayer of the week: Almighty father, sweeten all my bitterness with the sweetening blood flowing from the pierced side of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Welcome back to a new working week! Have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
