“The Lord Is Doing A New Thing; Trust Him!”(Is.42:1-9).
Song: “You are the Lord, that is your name. You will never share your glory with anyone…”
“Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations…” I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols. See, former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”
God does not do a new thing for us without foretelling it through a messenger. Before Jesus Christ was born the prophet Isaiah spoke about his coming as in the passage above.
When Jesus fulfilled all righteousness through baptism, God put his Spirit on him so that he will bring justice to the nations. Before his ascension he promised the Holy Spirit to his followers.
God is still doing new things to those who walk by faith and not by sight. Let us hold on to the new thing that God has done in Christ Jesus and is still doing in and with us through the Holy Spirit.
God is still doing new things for us, trust him alone! Each water we fetch from the tap, spring or stream is a new one, but we hardly notice or are concerned about the newness. In the same way we may not notice the new things happening in us, in our lives and our communities. But surely it is the Lord’s doing and should be marvellous in our eyes.
Prayer: Holy Spirit guide me, let me not share God’s glory with another or his praise with idols. Amen!
