“Peace Be With You!”
The Chambas of Africa insist that there must always be some cooked food in the house; especially during night time. The belief is that God can visit you at any time and ask for something to eat. If God visits and there’s no food to offer him, he may bypass that home with the blessings he was bringing.
It is even believed that the chimpanzees are people of a certain village who were inhospitable to God. He visited the village at night and moved from house to house asking for something to eat and nobody gave him anything. He was angry and transformed them into apes. It’s a myth but it has a message to transmit.
According to the gospel of Luke, when the risen Lord appeared to the disciples they were frightened as they thought he was a ghost. To convince them, he asked them, “‘Do you have anything to eat?’ They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence.”
And it is at this moment that “he opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures.” Hallelujah!
The Risen Lord offers us peace! He opens our minds so that we can understand the Scriptures. And the message is that we must be his witnesses to the world in thought, word and deed when we have received the promised Holy Spirit(Lk.24:36-49)..
*My friend, “Peace be with you” is the first offer the Risen Lord gives you and I. May that which you receive from the Lord be shared with your fellow man! Peace is what we need and to achieve it we must offer same to others. Be reminded that true peace is the fruit of justice and righteousness which are offshoots of love! So let there be peace!
Prayer: Holy Spirit cloth me with the power from on high so I can declare the glory of the risen Lord in thought, word and deed. Amen!
Happy Easter and have a blessed day and week! Peace be with you!
