“Make Good Use Of The Grace That Has Come To You!”(I Pt.1:10-12).
Inspiration is not born out of nothingness. Inspiration somehow depends on the past inspiration of others. Writers would attest that to write what appeals to readers depends on studying past writers in search of style, characterization, themes, content, purpose of writing, etc.
The prophets of old were inspired by the Spirit of Christ in them to speak about our salvation. But their inspirations did not happen in a vacuum. They “searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing…” All they could come up with was that Bethlehem, in the land of Judah will produce a ruler who will be the shepherd of God’s people(Mic.5:2&Mt.2:6).
The prophets like any of us would love to spend our efforts on things that would benefit us. In the case of the prophets “It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but” us “when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.”
We are so privileged to benefit from the labours of those of old. In a way we are a chosen generation, because “even angels long to look into these things” but have not been opportuned.
Believers are blessed to gain access to what many in the past longed for, but it was denied them. Let us make good use of this pearl of priceless value (salvation) which our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ has brought to us through his blood.
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for the privilege given to me. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
Rev. Babila Fochang.
