“…Keep Up Your Courage… For I Have Faith In God…!”
We have been called and assigned differntly. God will not call all of us to become leaders. Some are called to lead others, but they may not be the ones in control. Those in control as by God may be amongst those who are being led. They may even be prisoners under the leader.
Those in control are put there to give sound advice and to encourage the discouraged and the downhearted in their distress.
Worry and haste does not necessarily take us to our destinations on time. We must learn to keep pace with God who has mapped out our routes and knows how to take us to our destinations, slowly, steadily but surely!
Here is an example: Paul together with other prisoners were being shipped to Rome under a centurion called Julius. On the journey they were caught in a storm. Paul warned of impending dissaster and adviced against sailing, but the centurion prefered to listen to the pilot and of the owner of the ship. And that is how they were shipwrecked.
There were 276 souls on board. They became pensive and went for a long time without food. It is here Paul stood up before them and said, “Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete, then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss. But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed. Last night an angel of the God whom I serve stood before me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ So keep up your courage men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.”
At an appropriate moment when it was time to set sail again, Paul encouraged them again: “For the last fourteen days, you have been in constant suspense and have gone without food – you haven’t eaten anything. Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive”(Acts 27:21-26&33-37).
My friend, haven’t you worried enough about this life? And how has it brought you into your aspirations? Are you not still plagued by constant worries and perplexities?
Stop worrying! Stop being in suspense! Trust in God and listen to the voice of the one he has graciously given your life to take care of. Have faith in the God whose you are, and whom you serve! He will keep you from harms way and will supply you the food you need to survie! Just keep the faith. The night of tears will soon be over!
Weekend prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, my trust is in you. Have your way with me and lead me to your place of safety and security. Amen!
Have a blessed weekend! Peace be with you!
