“Holy Spirit Live In Me!”(Jn.14:15-19).
The Lord Jesus Christ continues to teach his disciples concerning the Spirit. We cannot wait for the Spirit as if he is going to descend on us on Pentecost day. But we need him to revive us.
There is the anecdote about a man who was doing his best to be truly accepted in a church. At one point he was almost discouraged, but the Holy Spirit told him, “Do not be discouraged. Keep trying. I myself have been struggling to be accepted, but it has not been easy, but I keep trying.”
Jesus was preparing the disciples as an entity, not as individuals. However, there can be no group impact if the individuals have not proven themselves worthy of the Lord by being the difference in the world. So Jesus emphasises: “If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth….”
To have faith and to love God and his Son depends on obedience. We cannot claim to have faith in Christ, or to say we love him or to say we believe in him if we do not obey him.
The world will continue to find it difficult to accept the Spirit because he is truth and insists on truth. Meanwhile the world relies on falsehood and deception.
But those who constitute the community of faith know him, for he lives with them and will be in them.
The Spirit lives “with” believers who come to the Lord, and when they obey the Lord the Spirit moves his residence to live “in” them. At a higher level, the Spirit is with the Church of Christ – the Community of Faith. When the Church obeys the Lord Jesus Christ, the Spirit then enters and live in Her!
The physical absence of Jesus through his resurrection and ascension into heaven does not leave us like orphans. He says, “I will come to you…you will see me…you are in me, and I am in you.”
Dear friend, each day we should make it a routine to ask the Spirit to help us to please the Lord Jesus Christ through obedience so that the same Holy Spirit will not only live with us, but he will then live in us!
Prayer: Spirit of God make your dwelling in me so that you should be the one acting in me. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
