“Holy Spirit Come Upon Me And Power Of God Overshadow Me!”(Lk.1:26-38).
The guiding theme of our congregation for the year just ending was,“You are highly favoured!” Since it was our guiding theme for the year, our Harvest Thanksgiving theme was, “Celebrating the Lord’s Favour!” The inspiration was drawn from the Annunciation story according to Luke. As you followed our meditations you were part of the favoured ones of our congregation,
What a coincidence that the text comes to us again today to close the year. Indeed, like Mary the mother of our Lord we are a favoured people.
To enjoy the Lord’s favour requires us to have hearts like that of Mary, submitting our lives to the will of God. Mary’s words to the angel was,“I am the Lord’s servant. May it be to me as you have said.”
Submission is what is expected of us when the Lord sends his angel to us to tell us what he has to do through us.
My friend, the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and the power of God overshadowed her. May it happen to you and I in the same way so that our hearts may be befitting temples of the Lord’s dwelling!
Prayer: Holy Spirit come upon me; power of God overshadow me. Lord, let it be to me as you want it. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you! Merry Christmas!
Rev. Babila Fochang.
