“Holy Spirit Be Our Teacher!”(I Cor.2:12-16)
Ten days after the celebration of Ascension comes Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost day commemorates the promise Jesus Christ made, that when he goes he will send the Comforter, Counselor, Spirit of truth who will guide and lead us into God’s truth.
As a prelude to Pentecost Paul reminds us on the important role of the Spirit on human wisdom. The Spirit who is from God is different from the spirit of the world.
There is an abundance of what God has freely given us. Human wisdom does not suffice to scratch just skin-deep of it. But the Spirit reveals spiritual truths and things to us.
“Those who do not have the Spirit cannot accept the words that are inspired by the Spirit. This explains why despite the hundreds of centuries of the presence of Christ in the world, there are still those who despise and reject the gospel, and also mock those who believe. The word of God is foolishness to such and they cannot understand what is spiritually discerned.
The Spirit leads us to the full knowledge of Christ and enables us to remain in him so that he too remains in us. For as Christ says,“apart from me you can do nothing…” When we remain in the Lord Jesus Christ and his words remain in us, we can “ask whatever you wish and it will be given you.”
This is his command to us,“Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends…”(Jn.15:5-15).
Spiritual truth leads us to Christ who is one with the Father. The Father says,“I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me WHEN YOU SEEK ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART, I WILL BE FOUND BY YOU…”(Jer.29:11-14a).
Yes, seek the Lord with all your heart and you will find him. And this is possible when we allow the Spirit to show the way. When we walk and abide with the LORD, we can make this bold declaration:“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD, be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD “(Ps.27:13-14).
Yes, they that wait on the LORD shall never be put to shame. Remember the three Ds: Destiny can only be Delayed but not Denied! Flow with the Spirit and you will not be subject to any man’s judgment.
Sunday prayer: Holy Spirit be my teacher and enable me to be spiritually discerning of the things of God. Amen!
Have a blessed Sunday! Peace be with you!
