“Bring Your Petition Before The Lord And Turn From Your Evil Ways!”
God in his role of parenting is patient with us. Yet he never relents his efforts to ensure our salvation.
The Lord told Jeremiah to write, “Perhaps when the people of…hear about every dissaster I plan to inflict on them, each of them will turn from his wicked way; then I will forgive their wickedness and their sin.”
Jeremiah dictated his prophecies to Baruch, his best friend and secretary. When Baruch had finished writing Jeremiah told him to go to the house of God and read it to the people as they come in from the towns. “Perhaps they will bring their petitions before the Lord, and each will turn from his wicked ways, for the anger and wrath pronounced against this people by the Lord are great”(Jer.36:1-10).
The messengers of God have one major assignment, which is calling people to repentance! The messengers’ lives may be threatened by those who feel umcomfortable with prophetic utterances, but that should not put fear in them. Though God waits patiently for all to be saved through Jesus Christ, his wrath and anger awaits the unrepentant.
God wants his message of salvation to penetrate the souls of wo/men so that they shouldn’t scatter like a band of frightened sheep.
My friend, let us give ear to the word of God, bring our petitions to the Lord, turn from our wicked ways and the Lord will forgive us as individuals and collectively.
Prayer: Lord, I come to you with a contrite and repentant heart. Holy Spirit lead me away from wicked ways. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
