“Be Filled With The Holy Spirit To Speak God’s Word Boldly!”(Acts 4:13-31).
I read somewhere that 13 Christians are killed everyday in the world because of their faith and that more Christians have been killed in a certain African country than anywhere else because of their faith. I have not verified the authenticity of these stories, but at least in the last 24 hours the social media is awash with the shocking massacre of not less than 20 Christians during a worship service in an African country. What a macabre act! May the souls of all the faithful departed rest in perfect peace.
It is comforting for believers who are persecuted for the sake of Christ to know that their persecutors know that everybody living within your vicinity knows you have done an outstanding miracle and they themselves cannot deny it.
But as it is, it is in the nature of snakes to bite, yet we should not be deterred from saving snakes when we see them in danger. It doesn’t matter if they turn to bite us after we have saved them!
When we stand for the truth of the gospel, our persecutors will command us not to speak or teach in the name of Jesus again. But like Peter and John we should be filled with the Holy Spirit to tell them,“Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Those who are persecuted need the prayers of the saints in order to stay strong and continue to do the work that the Holy Spirit empowers them to do. The wheel of destiny is propelled by God who may use man for that purpose. Indeed, conspiracy is always a chain involving many conspirators from different levels. These includes “Herod and Pontius Pilate” meeting together with the Gentiles and the others to conspire against the holy servants whom Jesus has anointed. But even as the believers prayed, those people do just what God’s “will and power had decided beforehand should happen.”
Therefore, in the midst of all these, our prayer is,“Lord…enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
Have a blessed Pentecost: Whit Monday! Peace be with you!
