“Available Grace In Time Of Need!”(Heb.4:14-16).
As humans we are not able on our own to overcome trials and temptations the same way that Jesus overcame. Having been tempted like us, Jesus Christ, Son of God, who is now the great high priest knows what it is like to fight temptation.
Jesus knows how weak and vulnerable we are when exposed to temptation because he “has been tempted in every way – just as we are – yet was without sin.”
In the midst of life’s trials and adversities which exposes us to temptations, we may feel like giving up. But because we have Jesus, “let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.”
“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
We may scatter like a band of frightened sheep, Jesus is thete to receive sinners. This is the word of grace that is sounded to all, that “Christ receiveth sinful men, even with all my sin; purged from every spot and stain…”(Erdmann Neumeister).
Take home message: Hold firmly to the faith you profess. Christ sympathizes with our weaknesses in the face of sin. Approach the throne of grace with confidence; there we may receive mercy for past sins. At the throne of grace we may find grace to help in time of present temptations, so that we can overcome.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ thank you for being the great high priest who sympathises with my weaknesses. Amen!
Have a blessed day! Peace be with you!
